Custom Design

The Process

Our custom design process is simple; send us your original design sketch or images of designs that inspire you and provide some basic information on the form below. Our team of designers will discuss the design details, our ethical sourcing and center stone choice with you and provide a quote. Engagement style rings start at 1500.00, wedding style bands and fine jewelry start at 1000.00. Once the design direction is approved, we will start the order, take a 50% deposit on the setting, and create preliminary sketches. Next, we provide you with 3D mechanical renderings (CAD) of the design; at this point adjustments can still be made to the design and materials if desired. The first two rounds of adjustments are complimentary, after that additional design charges apply. Once the design is approved and the final design balance paid, we start fabrication. The entire process takes from four to eight weeks to complete.

Your Stone or Ours

Laura Preshong is happy to set your personally owned precious gemstone or diamond into one of our settings, or incorporate them into a custom design. A setting fee of 300.00 for large diamonds will be added to the design price to cover identification, handling and removal from old mounts. A Setting Waiver will be required prior to removing diamonds from old mounts or re-setting a client's personal gemstone or diamond. We do not carry liability insurance for client stones not purchased through Laura Preshong. You must have insurance on your diamond prior to leaving with us for Custom Design. Diamonds purchased through Laura Preshong are insured for one year immediately upon purchase and are covered during the setting process. Client owned metals and diamond melee (small diamonds) with measurements of less than 3mm can not be used in custom designs.
